An increasing number of electronic resource platforms use this to authenticate users. Note that you need not click on an URL that is typically labeled "institutional login". When you arrive to the page starting from the UOIT Library sites you have already been authenticated to access the platform. The "institutional login" links denote an alternative authentication technology not currently used at the UOIT.

However other logins could be available variably called “personal login”, “sign-in”, etc. If this option is offered, it generally allow for saving searches, citations, alerts, etc. Personal login is never a requirement for accessing content, as this is ensured via the library pages.
